Rusty has been with us since May 1995. We picked him out when he was 5 weeks old, then he got to come to our family when he was 8 weeks old. He was our first golden.

He has been a ~ham~ since day one. The 70 mile trip down I-44 home was a breeze, he just stretched out in the back window of the car and took a little sun in( like one of those fake bobbin' head dogs). The people in the cars passing by ,all had big grins on their face.

Training Rusty was very easy, he is very smart. As a puppy he stayed indoors alot but as he grew older, wanted to be outside.

He used to go visiting alot while Mom and Dad were at work, wherever people and kids were, he was there, just being a friendly neighbor. He loved it , the neighbors even used to let him go fishing with them, he conveniently developed hearing problems(haha) , couldn't hear Mom and Dad calling him to come home, he finally hitched a ride home with the neighbors in their golf cart they used to feed the cattle. Those were the fun days,...... hay rides, ......visiting.

Now Mom and Dad set boundaries inside their 10 acres. He has the freedom of two acres to run. It's not so bad now that the girls are here. They like to play, play ,play so his day's are no longer lonely. As a matter of fact, he never wants to leave home again.

One of Rusty's favorite things to do is come in the house and watch the BIG fish in the aquarium, He even watches them from outside through the window. If our front door is open, Rusty will hop up and down and look in the door at us, he's just too funny sometimes.

Rusty helps teach the girls tricks, any time Mom and Dad are teaching , he is sure to be doing all the tricks in the background.Seems to be saying~ "Look at me Dad, look at me....I can do it....pet me."

Rusty loves to check the mail, that's when all that JUNK mail comes in handy, because he gets to deliver it.We place it in his mouth and tell him to take it to "daddy" or "mommy" and he does, and he just Loves it!

He loves people so much especially children. He really loves it when people come out to see his babies, of course he thinks they are coming to see him. He is our best Salesman.

Rusty is just a puppy still, in a BIG body :)

There are many, many more stories to tell about Rusty. But I will save them for my special Golden Story page on this site that I will keep adding to as time permits.
